About Lochlie Construction
At Lochlie, trust is the most important thing we build.
Construction is a service, not a transaction, and we work hard to build relationships with our clients that deliver long after the project is complete.
As a family-owned business founded in 2014, we’ve grown to become a significant player in Scottish construction, reaching £10m in revenue. This has helped to cement our reputation as Scotland’s contractor of choice for construction and refurbishment projects, steel buildings, and renewables services.
Over half of our work comes from clients who’ve worked with us before – people who keep coming back because we are:
- Transparent about costs from the first conversation. If there’s a way to save you money, or a more efficient way to build, we’ll tell you.
- Committed to keeping our highly skilled tradespeople and project managers in-house to control quality, timelines, and costs.
- Approachable, responsive and here to help: There’s a company director at the end of the phone 24/7/365, so you always get the action you need and the result you want.

Our story
Lochlie Construction was founded by Managing Director Douglas Aitken and his father, David Aitken.
Douglas is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with a strong commercial background in managing costs, risk and value. David is a Chartered Builder with more than 40 years of experience in the construction industry.
Together, they built Lochlie on a shared belief that construction should be professionally managed, commercially transparent, and delivered with pride.
The invaluable additions of Dave Aitken and Tom Tracy have strengthened our senior management team.
Dave joined as Mechanical, Electrical and Renewables Director in 2022, and was instrumental in securing our MCS Accreditation. With over 15 years’ experience, Dave spearheads our renewables expertise, and ensures our technical capacity in energy and electrical services remains a core strength of the business.
Tom joined us as Construction Director in 2023. With over 30 years’ industry experience, he adds critical operational structure and oversight, helping us deliver increasingly complex projects for larger clients. This means we can scale with confidence without losing the accountability and family ethos on which our reputation is built.
