Refurbishment of Staff Welfare and Ticket Office Areas at Subway Station

The project:
Background:
We were appointed to SPT’s Minor Works Framework in 2022 to deliver various small works and maintenance projects across their subway stations. We were approached as part of a mini-competition tender exercise for this project to upgrade the ticket office and welfare facilities at Partick Subway Station.
Scope of works:
- Phased Project Delivery:
- Phase 1: Scotrail Staff Welfare Facilities
- Phase 2: SPT Staff Welfare Facilities
- Phase 3: Ticket Office Works (concurrent with Phases 1 & 2, night shift)
- Welfare Facility Works (Phases 1 & 2):
- Safe isolation and strip-out of existing facilities.
- Installation of Altro Whiterock wall linings.
- Installation of new kitchen units.
- Works to ceilings, tiles, and services.
- Decoration of doors and woodwork.
- Replacement of floor coverings.
- Installation of new sanitaryware.
- Ticket Office Works (Phase 3):
- Painting and decoration.
- Replacement of floor coverings.
- General Project Execution:
- All works completed by in-house skilled tradespeople.
- On-site supervision by a dedicated Site Supervisor.
- Station and ticket office remained operational throughout the project.
- Minimised disruption to ticket office by completing phase 3 at night.
Challenges:
This project demanded thorough planning and coordination to execute night-shift tasks while keeping the station fully operational. We maintained consistent communication with Scotrail and SPT stakeholders, ensuring that all work was completed without affecting station operations.
Our skilled in-house team of tradespeople managed the tasks, focusing on cost control and quality assurance.
We organised night-shift activities to reduce disruption to ticket office operations.
We partnered with the client’s HSEQ department to guarantee adherence to the highest safety standards.
