Welcome to our March 2026 update! If there is one theme that defined this month, it’s our legacy. From taking home a prestigious industry award to having our company values featured in the national press, March has truly reinforced the “why” behind everything we build.
Read on for a look back at the people, projects, and milestones that made this month so special.
A Legacy Mindset: Awards & Recognition
We often talk about “building things that last” – and as our Managing Director, Douglas Aitken, recently discussed in his feature with The Herald Scotland, that philosophy extends far beyond bricks and mortar. It applies to our people, our teams, and the relationships we build with our clients.
This relationship-led approach was validated massively this month when we won the CeeD (Centre for Engineering, Education and Development) Marketing Award. This past year has been one of significant growth for Lochlie, with the launch of our new specialist divisions. Taking home this award was a special moment of reflection for our entire team, recognising the immense behind-the-scenes effort required to communicate our evolution and maintain strong, transparent connections with our partners.
Cultivating Culture: Diverse Perspectives & Long-Term Loyalty
The construction industry is evolving, and we are proud to be at the forefront of replacing old stereotypes with innovation and talent.
During #WomenInConstructionWeek, we took the time to reflect on the brilliant women shaping our projects from the ground up. Hearing from team members like Cory Mitchell, Quantity Surveyor, and Anu Wickramasinghe, Estimator, reaffirmed a core Lochlie belief: diverse perspectives are a true competitive advantage.
We also celebrated the individual journeys that make up our collective success:
- Investing in the Future: We were thrilled to see Rai Singh pass his FICA, officially becoming a fully qualified electrician. Watching his dedication pay off is exactly why we champion our apprenticeship programs.
- A Decade of Dedication: We caught up with Site Manager Derek Gibb ahead of his incredible 10th anniversary with us. Reflecting on how much the company and his role have evolved over the last decade was a great reminder of the vital role our long-term team members play in our success. pass his FICA, officially becoming a fully qualified electrician. Watching his dedication pay off is exactly why we champion our apprenticeship programs.
Project Reflections: Versatility & Trusted Delivery
Our commitment to doing the right thing translates directly to the diverse range of sites we operate on. This month showcased the true versatility of our specialist divisions:
High-Spec Hospitality: Our Lochlie Core division successfully handed over The Espresso Kart in Prestwick. By utilising our self-delivery model – from bespoke joinery to complete M&E upgrades – we ensured tight quality control and a premium finish for a thriving local business.
Visionary Transformations: Finally, we broke ground on a highly anticipated interior transformation for XEYEX Software in Bellshill. Working alongside Retail Experience Design, our in-house teams are already hard at work on everything from upgraded data infrastructure to striking exposed ceilings.
Sustainable Solutions: We finalised a fantastic partnership with new client Abacus Valves International Ltd in Kilbirnie, installing a 46.2kWp Solar PV system. Projects like this are deeply rewarding, helping partners who share our forward-thinking values reduce their carbon footprint by up to 9 tonnes annually.
Technical Complexity: At Bellfield Street in Dennistoun, our team has been safely navigating the unique logistical challenges of propping and demolishing a traditional Glasgow tenement facade for Reidvale Housing Association, paving the way for the next phase of structural works.
Looking Ahead
As we close out the first quarter of the year, we remain focused on our goal of reaching a £20m turnover by 2030. We will get there not by rushing, but by staying true to our legacy mindset – doing the right thing, building sustainably, and valuing the people who make it all possible.
Thanks for being part of our journey this month.
