Lochlie Construction Group: July 2025 Round Up

In this month’s edition, we’re bringing you the latest on our full turnkey projects, celebrating the recent achievements of our dedicated team and sharing a fond farewell! Dive in to catch up on all our news!

Employees of the Quarter: Gordon Fraser and William Craig

A huge shout-out to @Gordon Fraser, who was recently nominated by our Directors and HR Manager for his exceptional hard work, resilience, and dedication. Gordon consistently goes the extra mile, fully commits to every project, and always brings a fantastic positive energy to the team. We’re very lucky to have him in our team!

Keep up the great work, Gordon!

Another congratulations to William Craig (or Jasper, as we know him!), who has been named our Operative Employee of the Quarter for Quarter 2! Jasper received multiple nominations from our Site Managers. He’s a key member of our site-based team, consistently going above and beyond to handle various general labouring and driving duties across multiple sites. No task is too big for him, and he always brings positive energy to everyone he interacts with, both within Lochlie and beyond.

Keep up the fantastic work, Jasper!

Stepping Up to Net Zero: Eco Team Update!

Our Eco-Team is still driving meaningful change, and we’re excited to announce that our HSEQ & Compliance Manager, @Jonny Renfrew, will now be leading the team, building on @Jude Burton’s excellent work as Net Zero Co-ordinator.

This month, the Eco-Team focused on several key areas:

Waste Management: We’re finding new life for construction waste, repurposing it for educational purposes or to create new habitats.

Circular Economy: Collaboration is key here! We’re actively engaging with stakeholders and partners to build connections and drive mutual progress towards a more circular economy.

Renewable Energy: Our open house events are fostering cross-sector partnerships in renewable energy, encouraging innovation and the exchange of ideas to extend product lifecycles and reduce environmental impact.

Sustainable Procurement: We’ve reviewed our sustainable supplier library, with a focus on accurate quantity forecasting and bulk ordering to ensure our choices are both environmentally and economically sound.

Client Sustainability: We’re also working closely with our clients, encouraging them to adopt sustainable solutions in their projects, aligning their goals with our net-zero journey for shared environmental progress.

Farewell to Our Wonderful June Wilson!

On 26th June, we said a fond farewell to our wonderful administrator, @June Wilson! As our second-ever employee, June has been an invaluable part of the team for eight and a half years, witnessing all our growth. We celebrated her contributions with a special afternoon tea.

June is now looking forward to a well-deserved retirement of leisure, free from alarms. She’ll miss everyone, but perhaps not as much as her beloved office plants, for which she left strict watering instructions!

From all of us at Lochlie, we wish June a very happy retirement!

Project Update: YMCA Bellshill & Mossend Renovation 🔨

We’re hard at work transforming the @YMCA Bellshill & Mossend, a vital community hub! Our major renovation aims to boost energy efficiency, safety, and the overall experience for families, young people, and children.

Here’s a quick look at our progress:

  • Outside: We’re installing new Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHPs) with protective enclosures and replacing windows and doors for improved energy efficiency.
  • Inside: The Gym Hall is getting a complete revamp, including new high-level windows, a lower, insulated ceiling, and updated electrics and heating.
  • Building-Wide: Expect a full electrical rewire, a new heating system, enhanced fire safety, and new ceiling tiles with added insulation throughout the facility.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to revitalise @YMCA Bellshill & Mossend for the community!

New Site: Balshagary House for Enable Glasgow!

We’re excited to be back on-site for a returning client, @Enable Glasgow, an organisation doing invaluable work supporting people with learning disabilities to live independently and with dignity.

This project also continues our valued collaboration with @Anderson Bell + Christie, whose thoughtful design is perfectly aligned with the project’s goals.

Our work at Balshagray House includes:

  • A new pitched roof extension
  • Contemporary composite decking
  • A bright and calming winter garden
  • Refurbished kitchen and multi-function area
  • Upgraded office and wet rooms
  • A newly landscaped garden area

It’s a pleasure to contribute to such a meaningful cause and help create warm, functional, and supportive environments for the Enable Glasgow community.
