People, Projects & Progress: Our May Round-Up

Welcome to our May newsletter! It has been an incredibly busy, rewarding, and impactful month across Lochlie Construction Group. From reaching major sustainability milestones and undertaking high-profile heritage restorations to celebrating the bright future of our young construction talent, our teams have been working hard to build for tomorrow.

Take a look at our highlights from the past month.

 Sustainability & Innovation

At Lochlie, we believe that building for the future requires active investment today. This month, we have taken significant steps to reduce carbon footprints – both for our clients and within our own operations.

  • Practising What We Preach: To mark Construction Safety Week 2026, we highlighted our recent investments in eco-friendly technology at our own facilities. By installing state-of-the-art Air Source Heat Pumps and solar panels, we are significantly lowering our carbon footprint and feeding surplus clean energy back into the grid.
  • Powering Arnold Clark:We are incredibly proud to have successfully delivered our latest solar PV installation for Arnold Clark, Europe’s largest privately owned car retailer, supporting their journey toward Net Zero by 2050. This project demonstrates how SME agility, combined with deep technical expertise, can compete at the highest level, and we are delighted to become a trusted, ongoing supplier for their future rollouts

Project Milestones: Heritage, Luxury, & Commercial

Our divisions have been operating at peak performance, managing complex logistics and high-stakes environments with precision.

  • Bellfield Street (Core Division): Following the delicate extraction of the traditional tenement facade, the site has been safely handed over for deep foundation piling. Navigating exceptionally tight city-centre perimeters tests every ounce of our logistical planning. A huge thank you to Site Manager David Wyllie, whose exceptional expertise in temporary works ensures these highly complex operations run safely.
  • Crossbasket Castle Hotel (Ardura Division): Renovations are officially underway at the prestigious Crossbasket Castle Hotel, Spa & Restaurant, led by our luxury residential division, Ardura. Our teams are working with the utmost care and discretion to ensure this high-profile venue remains fully operational and undisturbed throughout the build.
  • Hanover Housing Association: Massive congratulations to the Hanover team on the official opening of their brand-new office at Watermark Business Park, Govan! We take immense pride in delivering spaces that serve a vital community purpose and feel privileged to have been part of this project.
  • Chromalloy, Glasgow: The team at Chromalloy recently shared images of their beautifully refurbished commercial space. Seeing our clients settle into a workspace perfectly tailored to their needs makes all the hard work worthwhile.

Community Impact: Construction Meets Compassion

We believe in building spaces that leave a lasting, positive legacy in our local communities.

  • Enable Glasgow Extension Completed: Our Core Division recently completed an extension for an occupied care home managed by Enable Glasgow. Working hand-in-hand with care staff, Site Manager Gordon Fraser and his team ensured that compassion, respect, and the residents’ well-being remained at the heart of the project throughout construction.
  • Flashback: The Inverclyde Shed: We recently looked back at a project that perfectly embodies our core values. Five years ago, Lochlie Steel transformed a delicate, post-war steel structure in Greenock into a modern, secure community hub. Today, The Inverclyde Shed is a multi-award-winning organisation, having recently received the prestigious King’s Award for Community Volunteering!

Investing in the Next Generation

Our people are our greatest asset, and this month, our brilliant apprentices took centre stage.

  • Skills Test Success: A massive congratulations to Brady Craig, who successfully passed his Joinery skills test last month! 👏
  • Modern Apprentice Awards: We were thrilled to welcome videographer Gordon Campbell from The Trades House of Glasgow to our office to interview three of our outstanding apprentices: Brady, Scott, and Kenny. All three were shortlisted for this year’s Modern Apprentice Awards!
