Lochlie Construction Group | April 2026 Round-Up

Spring has officially sprung, and it’s been an exceptionally busy and rewarding month across the business. From launching our brand-new Director Series and celebrating our incredible team, to marking vital industry awareness days and doing our bit for the local community, there is a lot to catch up on.

Let’s dive into what we’ve been up to this April.

The Director Series Launches

This month, we rolled out our brand-new Director Series! Managing Director Douglas Aitken and Construction Director Tom Tracy MCIOB sat down to discuss the foundations, evolution, and future of Lochlie Construction Group.

  • Episode 1: The “Contractor of Choice” – We explore our journey from a family business in 2014 to a leading contractor for complex projects. Douglas and Tom discuss our service-first approach and how we build trust-based, collaborative relationships with clients.
  • Episode 2: The Power of Integrity –  How do we achieve 50% repeat business? It all comes down to doing the right thing. We treat integrity as a practical blueprint for fostering trust, which is also why 97% of our team recommend us as a leading employer.
  • Episode 3: Digital Transformation –  We are proud to be modernising a traditional industry. In this episode, the directors discuss our bold investments in digital transformation, including our own office showcasing green technologies, and our move to become one of the first SMEs in the West of Scotland construction sector to hire a Data Scientist.

Sustainability, Heritage & Safety

Celebrating National Earth Day

April brought National Earth Day, the perfect reminder of why our dedicated solar division does what it does. We are focused on delivering practical, sustainable solutions for the built environment. To date, we are proud to have delivered:

  • 2,353.90 kWof installed solar capacity
  • ~2 million kWh of renewable energy generated annually
  • ~460 tonnesof CO₂ offset every single year

Our commitment to a lower-carbon future runs through our own operations, too. We’ve introduced five new EVs and two hybrid vehicles to our fleet, expanded the Electrical Energy Storage System (EESS) at our HQ, and our HSEQ Manager, Jonny Renfrew, is spearheading new environmental initiatives across all active sites.

Funding Notice: CARES Scheme 2026/27

The Local Energy Scotland CARES scheme is now accepting applications! The scheme provides vital funding covering up to 80% of costs to help local non-profit organisations install renewable technologies and decarbonise their buildings. At Lochlie Construction, we have extensive experience with CARES-funded projects, including successful installations for KLAS Care C.I.C and Lapwing Lodge. If your organisation is considering renewables, get in touch today!

World Heritage Day

Successfully restoring Scotland’s heritage sites requires an appreciation for historical architecture and highly disciplined project management. To mark World Heritage Day, we reflected on our approach to listed building refurbishments. From navigating strict compliance to coordinating trades in sensitive environments, we act as one dependable partner to deliver craftsmanship that stands the test of time.

World Day for Safety and Health at Work

“Safety is embedded in everything that we do. It’s not treated as a tick-box exercise.” This was the message from our HSEQ Manager, Jonny Renfrew, this month. By providing our team with real-time digital tools and empowering them to stop work if something doesn’t feel right, we are actively shifting from reactive to proactive safety management.

Community & Wellbeing

Stress Awareness Month

April marked  #StressAwarenessMonth. At Lochlie, we know that building a strong team means prioritising mental health just as much as physical safety. The construction industry has historically faced tough challenges with mental well-being, which is why we were incredibly grateful to welcome the team from Men Matter Scotland to speak with us recently. They do absolutely vital work in breaking the stigma and providing a safe space to talk when things get heavy.

Eddie’s Charity Leg Wax

Our labourer, Eddie Quinn, bravely underwent a sponsored leg wax, raising vital funds for the neonatal unit at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) in Glasgow. The unit is currently providing outstanding care for Lilah, the baby daughter of our Site Manager, Gordon Fraser. Through Eddie’s efforts, he raised an outstanding £900!

Glasgow Clan Sponsorship

Huge congratulations to Steven Seigo on being named the Glasgow Clan Defenceman of the Season! Our Managing Director, Douglas Aitken, was honoured to present Steven with the award. It is a well-deserved recognition for a player who brought grit and leadership to the blueline when the team needed it most.
