We’ve recently welcomed some new faces to the team here at Lochlie! We’ll be introducing them all over the next few weeks, starting with our new Finance Manager, Hamasah Fulad. Hamasah joined us in August and has already settled in really well. We asked her a few questions to find out more about her.
Tell us about yourself
I am a creative and passionate person – I love to experiment and challenge myself at every opportunity. I always look at the positive side in life, even when things seem difficult. I am quite shy at first but once I am comfortable with a person, they should be ready for some crazy stuff!
What made you choose your career path?
I love solving problems and managing teams. Often, today’s Accountant is more of a business consultant than just someone who crunches numbers. I have spent the last 6 years developing my skills in Accounting and Management roles in different industries and sectors, working hard and learning every day to excel in my role.
What attracted you to your role with Lochlie?
I was attracted to the role as I knew at interview stage I would be managing the finances for someone curious, organised and goal-oriented. No two days will ever be the same and there is a lot of planning required, and thinking on your feet! Lochlie offers a rewarding career in terms of experience, development and career support. Also, out of the many construction companies out there, Lochlie is one of the few where you feel you have a direct impact on the output of the business – you can drive past and say “I helped make that!”
What are you enjoying most about working with Lochlie so far?
I am enjoying learning new things about the construction industry and managing the finances for it. Having great support from my peers and Managing Director keeps me motivated. I like the chats, jokes and funny stories shared every day. Of course, some days there is a lot of pressure but being in an environment with people ready to help and support each other makes it much more exciting and engaging.
Hamasah has already driven improvements and efficiencies for the business, so we are looking forward to seeing what other ideas she has for us in 2020.
