Lochlie welcomes Emma Mackay to the team!

Last week, we welcomed our newest Assistant Quantity Surveyor Emma Mackay to the team at Lochlie. Emma has just recently finished her studies at high school and will be starting her degree in Quantity Surveying at Glasgow Caledonian University in September. We had a chat with Emma to find out a bit more about her now that she has her first week under her belt!

Tell us a bit about yourself….

My name is Emma, I went to Trinity High school in Renfrew and I have just started with Lochlie as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor. I really enjoy reading and English and that’s why I decided to do an advanced higher in the subject but I would say that Maths was my favourite at school. In my spare time, I like going to the cinema and spending time with my lovely dog!

What made you choose a degree in Quantity Surveying?

It is because of my love for Maths, and the different things that come with it, that I thought Quantity Surveying would be good choice for me. Also most of my family work in construction so when it came to choosing a career it felt like a natural choice to me.

What are you most looking forward to about working with Lochlie?

I’m looking forward to starting to learn about the job, seeing the sites and really getting into it before I start university. I visited my first site yesterday and it was really interesting to see the work that is going on. It’s also nice to be in a working routine.

Anything you’re not looking forward to?

One thing I’m not looking forward to is the early starts in the morning but I’m sure I’ll soon get used to it!

No doubt Emma will soon be out and about regularly on projects, and getting familiar with the business – when she’s not busy learning about Excel of course! Good luck Emma!
