Lochlie Construction: Year-End Edition

As the year draws to a close and the holidays approach, we’re replacing our usual monthly roundup with a look back at the most impactful moments of 2025. It has been a year of significant growth, major project milestones, and an unwavering commitment to our team and a sustainable future.

A Year of Growth & Professional Milestones

Our people are the foundation of Lochlie Construction, and 2025 saw major investment in their development and the expansion of our team:

  • Investing in Leadership: We emphasised continuous learning, highlighted by HR Manager Kirsty Campbell becoming the fourth senior leader to participate in the prestigious Help to Grow Management Course at the University of the West of Scotland.
  • Director Recognition: Our Managing Director, Douglas Aitken , was appointed to the Board of Directors at the Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce.

  • Team Development: We celebrated major qualifications across our site management teams: Project Manager Darren White and Site Supervisor Graeme Dempsey achieved their SVQs, and Painting and Decorating Manager Colin Stirling completed his SVQ in Construction Site Management.
  • Welcoming New Talent: We strengthened our team with key roles, welcoming Site Managers David Wyllie, Small Works Manager Nigel Campbell, and Site Supervisor Stuart Kinnear, and formally introducing Habib Ullah Manzoor, PhD , who is leading an exciting AI and Automation Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project with the University of the West of Scotland (UWS).

Commitment to a Greener Future

Our journey toward Net Zero continues to accelerate, driven by our belief in sustainable and responsible practices:

  • Key Achievement/Event: We successfully hosted the “Stepping Up to Net Zero” Open House at our Hillington HQ, where we shared our journey to achieving carbon neutrality and explored practical solutions with our partners

  • Major Sustainable Projects: We partnered with highly reputable clients on significant renewable energy installations:

– Partnered with Equi’s Ice Cream to install a full solar PV system on their factory.

– Completed a major solar PV installation for the Merck Group facility in Glasgow.

  • Award Recognition: Our commitment was externally validated by being named a finalist for the Glasgow Business Award for Net Zero Achievement. Glasgow Chamber of Commerce

Key Projects & Client Success

From innovative refurbishments to vital community facilities, our construction projects made a real difference this year:

  • Showroom Transformation: We completed a full turn-key, stunning warehouse transformation for our client Wholesale Domestic Bathrooms in Hillington, turning an empty space into a successful extension of their showroom.
  • Community Impact: Our continued, vital work for ENABLE Glasgow at Balshagray House is progressing well, creating a warm and supportive environment for the community. The project, which includes a new extension and flexible spaces, is currently on track for its scheduled completion in January.
  • New Partnerships: We commenced work on a substantial refurbishment initiative at Bellfield Road, marking the start of an important new partnership with Reidvale Housing Association.
